Ateret Cohanim Yeshiva in Old City of Jerusalem.
Ateret Cohanim or ateres cohanim is a religious Zionist yeshiva situated in the Old City of Jerusalem. The (dean) is Rabbi Shlomo Aviner. Ateret Cohanim´s Yeshiva was founded in 1978. The Yeshiva is located in the historic Torath Chaim Yeshiva on HaGai St., just opposite the Temple Mount.

The prestigious Torath Chaim Yeshiva, built in 1886 by Rav Yitzchak Winongrad of Poland, had at its peak, about 300 students from all over the world, including the late Rabbis Tzvi Pesach Frank, Tzvi Yehuda Kook, Yitzchak Herzog and Aryeh Levin. Forced to flee in the wake of the 1936 Arab riots, the Rosh Yeshiva entrusted the building and its contents to the Arab watchman who faithfully preserved it until the reunification of Jerusalem in 1967. This Yeshiva was the only one out of about 80 synagogues and yeshivot, which wasn't destroyed by the Jordanians.
The Ateret Cohanim Yeshiva, "Ateret Yerushalyim" headed by Rav Shlomo Aviner, is the spiritual focus for the return of Jews to their homes in the "Moslem" (once known as the Mixed) Quarter. Today this historic building serves as the main study hall for 150 students from all over the country, all of whom serve in the army. These boys dedicate themselves to Torah study out of love for Jerusalem and the Jewish people.
The Yeshiva also includes an Advanced Kollel Program for married students . The single students live in dormitories in the area or if they are married, live in homes located nearby in the Moslem or Christian Quarters.
Graduates have distingued themselves in many key positions - as Deans of Institutions, Community Rabbis and outstanding educators.

Yeshivat Ateret Yerushalayim, established 30 years ago, is located in the heart of the capital of Israel – The Old City of Jerusalem.
Since its establishment 30 ago, Yeshivat Ateret Yerushalayim has resided in the heart of the (liberated) Old City.
The Yeshiva is the spiritual epicenter of a community of almost 1000 residents in the heart of the Old City in the so-called "Moslem" Quarter. This area was in fact, prior to the Arab riots, largely inhabited by Jews. It is on this historical basis that we refer to it now as the Renewed Jewish Quarter.
In keeping with the educational goals of our Rosh Yeshiva, Ha-Rav Shlomo Aviner Shilt"a, the Yeshiva's 1500 graduates have established themselves in a wide variety of professions fields. Dispersed throughout the country, these men now serve as heads of educational institutions, pre-military and other yeshivot, as senior IDF officers and in key security positions. Others are active in law, media, hi-tech, management and business.
At present, 230 students are learning in one of the Yeshiva's three institutions:
The Yeshiva Gevoha, the higher institute of Torah studies: 115 single students
The Kollel: 70 married students
The Pre-Military Academy: 45 students
