Shalom,
I am happy to invite you to participate in the 43rd anniversary of the unification of the city.
This is the second year of our celebrating the education week during the week of the Jerusalem Day festivities. This is no coincidence, as the promotion and development of education are among the top priorities of the municipality. I believe that education is the master key to the city's success, and this is why I have taken responsibility for the education dossier.
As part of our efforts to promote education we are initiating a reform whose goal is to establish Jerusalem as the leading city in the educational domain, and turn it into a magnet for students of all ages.
We invest a great deal in our teachers and school principals in order to encourage both educational and leadership skills. We boost the principle of equal educational opportunities, aiming to materialize the full potential of each and every student. We invest in informal education in accordance with the concept of ''education from morning till night''. We also spare no effort expanding the resources invested in the civic education.
The education week's motto is ''Breakthroughs beyond the walls'', because it conveys our conviction that through competent education it is possible to break out of dangerous vicious circles, overcome obstacles, and look forward into the future.
I am happy to urge you to examine the pamphlet we have prepared for you, listing the diverse and attractive events that will take place throughout the city during the same week in which the Jerusalem Day occurs. You will find here events, shows, and tours addressing every person and every taste.
The education week will open at Binyanei Ha'uma with two days during which, among other events, there will be a fascinating and beautiful exhibition of displays presented by many different schools and informal educational institutions. In the course of this week the events will merge with the Students' Day and the Jerusalem Day events.
I invite you to take part and enjoy the beauty of Jerusalem and experience the abundant occurrences throughout the city. I wish us all Hag Sameach a joyful holiday!
Regards,
Nir Barkat
